Wedding Cake Footstool

One of the treasures I found at yesterdays estate sale was a lengh of pink satin pleated valance. I didn't know what I was going to to with it, but the color was sublime and I couldn't resist it (and it was only $3!) . As soon as I got home I decided it would be perfect for a footstool I had waiting to be done over. This project couldn't have been simpler. I covered the footstool in a cream chiffon and topped that with some cream lace (part of an inexpensive poly lace curtain, that I also got at an estate sale for $1). I then just hot-glued the valance all the way around.

Then I made little rossettes from more of the lace curtain. I just cut 3" along the side. I cut it int0 4 equal peices, then threaded some french seam binding through the hem and tied in a bow, forming the rosettes. Then I just hot glued one to each corner. The project took less than 1 hour. This is one of those projects that you may never find something like that again, but who knows? Now that I know what I can do with it, I will be looking out for more valances.
