Adventures in Burlap

I've been busy gardening as it's gotten hot here on the front range of the Rockies. We seemed to have skipped spring and gone directly to summer. Since the season is so short, it's a mad dash to get those annuals and pots planted out. Now that that is done, it's on to projects.

I saw this idea somewhere (Sorry, can't remember which blog), and wanted to try it myself. Basically you are printing directly onto fabric (a cotton muslin). You cut the muslin to size, then spray with adhesive and apply to cardstock, then run through the printer. I really didn't think this would work, but it did. None got jammed in the printer and all came out beautifully. All graphics are from Grapics Fairy and are all in the Black and White image section.
After that I pulled the fabric from the paper, then ironed it on to Steam A Seam. Then I could trim each image down using a paper trimmer, so they are nice and even . I then fused the image onto burlap. The Steam a seam bonds to the burlap and keeps the edges of the muslin from fraying, so no sewing necessary. Then I finished as either pillows or table runners.
I made these for my shop, and as soon as I carried them into The Barn, another vendor spotted them and asked me to do some for a show she is doing. So I've been busy today doing 12 runners and 12 Pillows. Tonight I'll have burlap nightmares!
