The theme for the week seems to be corsets. I met my friend Lainey, for coffee and she mentioned she would like more images from a corset stamp I have. She made a wonderful little gift pack for me of some of her treasures, so of course, I will be glad to do that.
Then I fell in love with and purchased a collage I found on Etsy, featuring roses and Butterfly wings from landofenchantment. I've made a few things with this image, here is a one. I often use old frames and put a piece of beadboard in the center, and I used this to decoupage the image onto.
I've been experimenting with different paint techniques and colors, this is a mixture of watered down grey paint and Old English furniture polish.
Finally I found a great vintage hat from another Barn vendor that had a bunch of millenery flowers. I used the flowers on some wire corsets I had, added a gold tulle bow, some velvet leaves and a french image from Graphics Fairy. Tres Chic!
On the home front the chicks have hatched! I realized though that they are not mountain bluebirds, but Barn Swallows (they often use the name nesting spots). Whatever they are, they are welcome. Mom and Dad are now busy flying back and forth bringing food to the hungry chicks. We also got a new addition to the yard, a beautiful honey locust tree. We lost 2 of our bigger trees to the harsh Colorado weather, so we bought a new one, and it looks just great.
On the down side, I had to take my cat Cleo to the vet - she has an abcessed tooth. I just had one a month or so ago, so I understand how she feels. She got pain meds and antibiotics and will go back Thursday to get it extracted and the other teeth cleaned. She's a trouper, though and took the whole thing in stride and is feeling much better now. Considering this is the first time in the 10 years I've been in her life (she is 16), I've had to take her to the vet for anything but check ups - she's doing pretty good.
